Nigeria female national team, Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby has disclosed that he will name his final squad for next month’s Africa Women Cup of Nations on November 1st.
The Swedish tactician, who on Monday reeled out a 48 player provisional list of invitees, admitted real work has to start in preparations for Ghana 2018.
Dennerby admitted that the competition next month would be a testy one for Nigeria, as the top three teams of the 2018 AWCON will qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
In throwing more light on his build-up plans, Dennerby also affirmed that 27 of the invited players will be axed from the roster in the coming week.
Dennerby disclosed: ”First of all we just invited some active players, like 29 players that will be in the first camp that ends October 28.
“After that, we will have a good mix of some of the professional players coming in together with the best part of the domestic squad.
”Finally, on the first of November, we will cut the squad and have the final AWCON squad, (and we will name) 21 players that will go to the tournament.
”From now on it is hard work to find out which are the best ones to bring success to the Super Falcons of Nigeria team.”
