In a commanding performance at Ibrox, Rangers secured a resounding 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock in a Scottish Premiership clash.
The visitors took an early lead when James Tavernier inadvertently scored an own goal in the 12th minute, putting Kilmarnock ahead. However, their advantage was short-lived as Joe Wright was shown a red card in the 22nd minute, reducing Kilmarnock to ten men. Rangers were awarded a penalty for the foul, but James Tavernier missed the spot-kick.
Undeterred by the missed opportunity, Rangers continued to press forward, and their persistence paid off in the dying moments of the first half. Fabio Silva found the back of the net in the 45th minute of stoppage time, courtesy of an assist from John Lundstram, to level the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
After the break, Rangers asserted their dominance, with Ben Davies scoring in the 62nd minute to give them the lead for the first time in the match. The home side extended their advantage further when Tom Lawrence capitalized on a pass from Ross McCausland to make it 3-1 in the 71st minute.
As the game drew to a close, Rangers sealed their victory with a fourth goal, as John Souttar found the back of the net in the 93rd minute, capping off a dominant display.
Cyriel Dessers played the full game, but was not amongst the goals this time. The Nigerian striker only had one attempted and it was blocked in the 64th minute.
With this important win, Rangers now have 81 points from 35 games in the Scottish Premiership, keeping them in second place in the standings, just three points behind leaders Celtic. Their pursuit of another league title remains firmly on track as they continue their impressive form in the season.
