Dogo to beef up Sunshine Stars defence, attack

Date:

Coach Kabiru Dogo has hinted that he needs to beef up the defence and attacking options of Sunshine Stars before going into the new season.

The former Nasarawa United gaffer who stated this in Akure, said the ongoing Gold Cup preseason tournament has afforded him the opportunity to access his team ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League season.

“I must commend the organiser of the Gold Cup Tourney for bringing it to Akure,” said the former ABS FC handler.

“It is a good platform for me, my assistants and other participating teams to test the players.

“For the ones we invited, they have been sweating it out in the training sessions with a view to impress me and my assistants and also know if they can fit into our playing patterns.

“I have only trained with the players in less than a week and I have seen the lose ends in the team.

“The squad that played in the game against Lobi Stars were the ones I met on ground. I was quite satisfied with their performance but a lot still needs to be done if Sunshine Stars is to compete well this season.

“I hope to shop for strikers and defenders to give team the needed options at the back and off course attack.”

Recall the Owena Waves lost its top scorer, Sikiru Alimi to Lobi Stars.

Alimi will be wearing the colours of the Makurdi side this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League and CAF Champions League.
