Former Nigerian international, Dominic Iorfa, has been relieved of his duties as Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi.
The announcement came on Saturday, 7th September 2024, as part of a broader restructuring of the club’s management by the Benue State government.
The decision to dissolve the management was made by the state government, with Deputy Governor overseeing the process that saw Iorfa exit his position.
This was confirmed in a statement signed by Solomon Iorpev, the Technical Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication.
The governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, directed that the club be placed under the management of the Benue Sports Council with immediate effect.
In addition to the dissolution, a new board has been constituted to oversee the affairs of Lobi Stars. The newly appointed chairman is Dr. Philip Nongu, while Dr. Iorngulum Malu will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the board include Chief Solomon Andiir, Harry Yachi, Francis Ejiga, and Sir James Iorpuu, who will represent the government.
Governor Alia also ordered that the handover of all management duties be completed before midnight today.
Lobi Stars is set to host Akwa United on Monday, 9th September 2024, in Lafia, for Matchday 1 of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
