Eagles Commence Full Team Training In Uyo

The Super Eagles commenced full team training Wednesday morning at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in preparation for their international friendly match against DR Congo on Monday.

Nigeria will host The Leopards at Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, ahead of which the players are gathered in nearby Uyo, and are expected to storm The Garden City on Saturday for the match.

The players who have so far arrived the team’s Uyo camp are Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho, Dele Ajiboye, William Ekong, Ola Aina, Elderson Echiejile and Tyrone Ebuehi.

Others are Stephen Eze, Junior Lokosa, Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Chidozie Awaziem, Oghenekaro Etebo, Bryan Idowu, Joel Obi, Mikel Agu, Leon Balogun, Simy Nwankwo, Odion Ighalo, Uche Agbo and Moses Simon.

Training started at 1030 hours with thirteen outfield players and the four goalkeepers called up present.

The workout was done in the hot sun of 32 degrees Celsius, there were many water breaks due to the hot weather.

The training session started with all the seventeen players taking part in the jogging exercise.

At 1035 hours, the players went into stretching and other exercises while Wilfred Ndidi was given special training with a coach, before the players were divided into two teams of six each excluding the goalkeepers who were doing their own thing and the Leicester City man.

At 1050 hours, both set of players did a drill of keeping the ball in the air from one width of the pitch to the other, press-ups were carried out if the ball drops before the end of the pitch.

Starting from 1105 hours, both teams did the passing drills with only two touches of the ball, with one team trying to prevent the other from passing.  

The training session which took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium ended at 1210 hours.
