The Super Eagles will spend two nights in Uyo, after Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, as the team is not billed to fly out of the city until Monday morning.
The Nigerian squad is billed for the second leg of the AFCON 2019 double-fixture with Libya on Tuesday, October 16 in Sfax, Tunisia, but the team will not leave for the game until just above 24 hours to kick-off.
Footballlive.ng learnt that the initial plan of taking the Eagles to Abuja after Saturday’s game in Uyo has been jettisoned, as the squad will now stay over till they fly out direct to Sfax.
This development may not be unconnected with rave reviews trailing the atmosphere in Uyo, as Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr and his players have been hailing the facilities and packages on offer.
Rohr even stated categorically during one of his press conferences that he and his players are grateful to Akwa Ibom State governor, Emmanuel Udom for according them a warm reception and making their stay very comfortable.
Consequently, the Eagles will now stay two more nights at Ibom Hotel & Resort, while also perfecting their strategies at the practice pitch of Goidswill Akpabio International Stadium before they fly out to Sfax.
