Eagles Must Show Progression In Next Games – Rohr

Date:

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has again hinted that he will be all out to achieve victory from next month’s last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and the friendly with Egypt, as he says his side need to show progression from the strides they achieved last year.

Although the first game on March 23 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba is a formality, as the Eagles have already qualified, Rohr says the players need the tie to test their focus since the last time they were together.

The Franco-German tactician stated further during a television programme monitored in Lagos by footballlive.ng that he is happy the team is yet to lose any game since the FIFA World Cup in Russia and that many young players are coming in.

However, he stressed that they have to settle down fast and then start making plans for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, who they will play three days after locking horns with Seychelles, at same venue in Asaba.

The gaffer added that both matches in the Delta State capital will be used to assess the new direction of the Eagles and weigh the players’ ability to adapt to tactics during games in which they are not playing under pressure.

Rohr expatiated, saying: ”There is no pressure, we always want to win of course but this is a natural pressure in each game.

”It is already good to be qualified because Nigeria didn’t qualify for the last two Africa Cup of Nations.

”Since the World Cup, we didn’t lose any game, we won most of them. So, we are progressing and we have to show it in the next games.
“We did very well and the young team without some players who didn’t come after the World Cup tried their best.

”We have very good wingers now who are quick, we have players who are coming from behind who can play in different strategies.”
