Eagles Start Libya Match Preparations In Hotel Gym

Date:

The Super Eagles finally set in motion their plans for Saturday’s match against Libya at 10am on Wednesday, with fitness drills in the gym.

Footballlive.ng gathered that the morning session was tagged ‘body enhancement’ and held in their hotel base, after which the team headed out at 4pm for technical build-up on the pitch.

The evening training session took place the practice pitch of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, in the mainbowl of which Saturday’s match will take place, but the Eagles will not feel the main pitch until Friday evening, according to rules guiding international soccer games.

An official statement confirmed the change of venue for the team’s first work out since camp opened on Monday.
The session had initially been scheduled for the stadium, where fans and journalists were to have been allowed to see the team on Tuesday and Wednesday, before closed training commences on Thursday.

Consequently, team officials apologised for the change, and appealed for understanding from fans and journalists.
The statement read: “We regret whatever inconveniences this change may have caused the media and our fans who had planned to watch the open session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

“Our evening training (on) Wednesday, October 10, 2018, holds at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo from 4 pm. It will be an open session.”
