Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has stated confidently that the Super Eagles will qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, because he believes the team has the right quality to pull off the feat.
The Eagles’ second choice shot-stopper, however, admitted they must first put their campaign back on track with victory away to Seychelles next Saturday, following their opening loss at home against South Africa.
Despite that early setback, when the Eagles lost 2-0 at Godswill Akpabio International Airport, Uyo, Ezenwa says Nigeria must take all three points against Seychelles.
He acknowledged that victory is of the essence, if the Eagles are to stand any chance of qualifying for the main tourney in Cameroon next year, but added that he is confident in the team’s ability to pick the much-needed win on September 8.
“I believe we will qualify from the group because we have the right players to do so (but) it’s very important for us to claim the maximum points.
“It’s a must-win game to keep us in contention in the group. Anything other than a victory will jeopardize our chances of qualification to the Nations Cup,” Ezenwa concluded.
