Super Eagles’ goalkeepers’ trainer, Alloy Agu has expressed optimism that the Nigerian team will be able to emerge tops at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, once they get adequate preparations.
Agu stated as much during a sports programme monitored in Lagos by footballlive.ng, on which he added that the players are determined to make Nigerians proud by returning home with the trophy in June.
The former goalkeeper, who was part of the 1994 AFCON winning team in Tunisia and Nigeria’s debut World Cup outing at USA ’94, further disclosed that all the players and coaches are focused on the task ahead.
He reckoned that the desire to do well at Egypt 2019 is the foundation of Nigeria’s chances of winning a fourth continental title, and stressed that the team will be able to go all the way once they can prepare properly.
Agu stressed: “We know what is ahead of us and what is expected of us. We have a desire to do well and win the Nations Cup.
“Good preparations and determination are what we need to win the Nations Cup.
“I can assure you that we will prepare well, and the Super Eagles are determined. So, we can win the Nations Cup in Egypt.”
