Cercle Brugge of Belgium left-back, Elderson Uwa Echiejile has put aside his personal thoughts at club level, as he has turned his focus fully on trying to make the Super Eagles’ World Cup squad, and go on to get a glorious outing in Russia.
Echiejile, who is on loan from AS Monaco of France, said he is not thinking about an extension with Cercle Brugge, but is concentrating on being in great form to make the Eagles final squad to Russia 2018.
Cercle Brugge defeated Beerschot Wilrijk 3-1 in March to seal their return to the elite division after three years, but Echiejile is not thinking about staying with them into the next campaign.
Echiejile, who played for Turkish side Sivasspor at the start of the 2017/18 season before joining Cercle Brugge in January in search of regular football, has made 53 appearances for the Eagles and scored twice, which he aims to extend at Russia 2018.
“I have another a year contract with Monaco and I am very happy. I just think about the end of the season and to stay in good shape and form for the World Cup.
“The World Cup is around the corner and we’ll see what happens next,” said Echiejile, who missed out on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to injury.
