Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens have booked their spots in the Nigeria Women Premier League Super Eight playoff (NWFL) after the conclusion of the regular season matches.
Edo Queens sealed their qualification with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Delta Queens at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bayelsa Queens secured their place in the season-ending tournament despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Robo Queens.
Edo Queens finished in second position with 23 points from 14 games, while Bayelsa Queens claimed the third spot with 22 points from the same number of matches. Both teams will now join Rivers Angels, who topped Group B with 27 points, in the NWFL championship playoffs.
The qualifying teams from Group A include Nasarawa Amazons, Heartland Queens, and Confluence Queens, setting the stage for an intense battle in the Super Eight playoffs.
The upcoming playoffs will determine the eventual winner of the 2024 NWFL championship, with the top-performing team lifting the trophy.
