Eguavoen urges Eagles to qualify for AFCON 2019

Date:

Former Super Eagles coach Austin Cerezo Eguavoen has stated that invited players to the senior national team should count themselves lucky with the plethora of Nigerian players plying their trade abroad.

The former Eagles defender said that they must now be ready to give their all to the course of ensuring that Nigeria get it right this time.
Eguavoen in a chat with Footballlive.ng posited that the approach must surely be different having missed out of consecutive African Cup of Nations (AFCON) championships.
“Nigeria is a country blessed with interesting and budding talents,” the former Eagles gaffer told Footballlive.ng.
“Those who are lucky to be invited to the current set up should count themselves lucky and must defend the colours of the nation with pride.”
“We have failed to qualify for two consecutive AFCON, the team should try to make it happen this time around in order to put smiles on the faces of passionate Nigerian fans,” he concluded.
The Super Eagles will battle with Seychelles in a 2019 AFCON qualifier on September 8.
