Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke has been diagnosed with a high-grade hamstring injury following Sevilla’s recent La Liga clash against Barcelona, which ended in a 5-1 defeat.
The 26-year-old was forced off the pitch in the first half, leaving the field in additional time of the first half after being unable to continue.
Reports now indicate that Ejuke is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with the injury likely to keep him out of action for around three months.
Despite this setback, Ejuke has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2024/25 La Liga season.
He currently holds the title of the league’s most successful dribbler, boasting a 61% success rate in his attempts.
The Sevilla star has completed 28 successful dribbles out of 46 attempts, placing him ahead of notable names such as Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé.
Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow this summer, has made nine appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
His return to the Nigerian national team also came recently during the Super Eagles’ AFCON qualifiers against Libya, marking his first involvement with the squad since 2021.
