Former Nigerian International, Friday Ekpo has hailed the Super Eagles players for reporting early to camp ahead of their AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The team had its first training session with twenty players available on Tuesday with Austine Eguavoen leading the session.
Ekpo stressed that it was important to have all the players together as it will enable the coaches to perfect their tactical ideas and strategies in time for the game.
“First and foremost, congrats to Eguavoen once again for being given another task ahead of him. And the players know that around this time that they will be playing our nations cup qualifiers. And they know when the list came out and when they asked them to report, that is one factor. You should give them time to report. If they come in at that point, it’s good. If they fail to come in at that time, it may not be too good because the coach and others will be worried, their level of fitness and whatever”, the former player said.
He then stated that Eguavoen will do his best will do his best with the resources available to him, adding that he will employ his experience to maximize the team.
“So, we have a game on Saturday which we must execute. Eguavoen will do the best we can with the players on the ground. So, he will not go to bring others from anywhere. You just have to do what you want, manage what we have on ground, because we have back-to-back games. So, I think he should be able to work with the ones on ground, and tell them, bring out his wealth of experience in coaching to get what he wants them to do for him and for us”, he added.
