Abia Warriors Sporting Director, Emeka Ifejiagwa, has expressed strong optimism regarding the appointment of Imama Amapakabo as the new head coach of the club. Ifejiagwa believes this strategic move will significantly boost the team’s performance and help them achieve new heights.
Ifejiagwa emphasized that the decision to bring in Amapakabo aligns with the club’s ambition to be competitive. He assured that the club will provide the necessary resources to support the new coach in achieving their shared goals.
“The appointment of Imama Amapakabo is a step towards putting the team in a position to compete at higher levels. Our achievement of reaching the Federation Cup final demonstrates that we have a strong squad, and we are very ambitious. The coach and the club are aligned in our vision, and we will be patient yet demanding as we push towards our goals,” Ifejiagwa stated.
He acknowledged the impressive start that Amapakabo has made since his arrival, indicating his preparedness for the role. This includes initiating programs and contacting potential recruits, showcasing his dedication and readiness to elevate the team.
“He has done a lot since he came. He has already started his program, started contacting people, and doing everything necessary. This shows he is someone who is well-prepared for the job. We will be patient with him, but we will also push for results,” Ifejiagwa noted.
Reflecting on the team’s recent achievements and future goals, Ifejiagwa reiterated that while reaching the Federation Cup final was commendable, winning is the ultimate aim. He stressed the importance of recruitment to enhance competition within the squad and elevate the team’s performance.
“We’re happy we reached the final, but we are not satisfied because we didn’t win it. In the future, people will remember the winners, not just the finalists. Therefore, we are going to recruit more players to create competition within the team and improve our level of play,” he explained.
Ifejiagwa assured fans that Abia Warriors are not just aiming to participate in the league but are determined to compete fiercely.
“We’re not just going to make up the numbers in the league. We’re going to compete,” he affirmed.
