Yemi Olanrewaju, the assistant coach of Enyimba, has voiced his disappointment with the officiating during the team’s recent 2-1 loss to Kwara United. Olanrewaju expressed his concerns about the perceived bias shown towards Kwara United by the match officials, suggesting that the Harmony Boys were given undue advantages during the game.
Despite his frustrations with the officiating, Olanrewaju was quick to commend both teams for showcasing impressive football skills and artistry throughout the match.
at the end of the game, Olanrewaju himself was shown a red card, adding to the drama of the encounter. Kwara United’s Emmanuel Ogbole emerged as the hero for his team, scoring a brace, while Ikenne Cooper found the net for the defending champions, Enyimba.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Olanrewaju said, “I won’t blame my players for the defeat. The first half was good but the second half was something else.” He went on to criticize the referee’s decisions in the second half, highlighting a sudden surge in yellow and red cards against his team.
“I only asked why the sudden change in the second half, and he gave me a second yellow card which was automatically a red card. He also showed red cards to two of my players,” Olanrewaju added.
Despite the disappointing result and the contentious officiating, Olanrewaju emphasized the need for the team to move forward and focus on their upcoming match against Kano Pillars.
