Powerful central defender Isiaka Oladuntoye has set a realistic title target for Enyimba International Football Club in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The People’s Elephants who occupy fourth spot in the NPFL table are five points adrift leaders Plateau United.
With the team faced with continental engagements and a difficult fixture schedule in the Nigerian top flight, Oladuntoye sees no reason why the two-time CAF Champions League winners can’t win the league title at the end of the season.
“The race for the league title is very open. If you critically check the difference between first and sixth, then you will understand why we feel there is a golden chance of winning the league title,” Oladuntoye said in an interview with Footballlive.ng.
“Enyimba is a top club that has ambition. We have a feeling of winning the NPFL shield at the end of the season. It is a difficult but achievable task. We certainly have the machinery to make things happen for us.
“What we need to do is to try to pick 33 points from our remaining games and see what happens at the end of the day,” the former Kwara United defender added.
Enyimba are scheduled to face Rivers United in the week 25 of the NPFL.
