KAA Gent of Belgium attacker, Anderson Eisti is now in a race against time to get a summer transfer deal under 24 hours, following his club’s late approval of a possible exit for him.
The former Super Eagles invitee had initially been on the verge of joining compatriot and former club mate, Moses Simon at Levante of Spain, but Gent blocked the move, only for them to give their nod this midweek.
The nod, though, comes late, as the general transfer window in Europe closes on Friday, which means Esiti has only few hours to seal a deal or have to wait until January to renew his exit bid.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who has two caps for Nigeria, is not happy that Gent rejected a three million Euro bid by Levante, and he will now have to get another willing club to buy him before transfer deadline on Friday midnight.
Esiti, who has been with Gent for the three and half seasons, did not travel with the club for their UEFA Europa League playoff away to Girondins-Bordeaux on Thursday night.
Esiti featured in 26 games for Gent in an injury-hit season during the past campaign and has so far played once this term, in a 1-1 draw against Zulte-Waregem.
The former Estoril of Portugal battler has now gained the green light to join Simon and several other Nigerians out of Gent, after earlier deals for Peter Olayinka at Slavia Prague and Samuel Kalu at Bordeaux.
Gent are now looking for the right solution to appease Esiti, who joined them two years ago from Estoril, but will now be allowed to quit, a few weeks after another Nigerian, Taiwo Awoniyi joined them on loan from Liverpool of England.
