Las Palmas of Portugal midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo is billed to arrive in Nigeria on Sunday, ahead of his move to the Super Eagles camp, ahead of Monday’s deadline, while Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi is booked to land on Monday.
While Iwobi is taking his time off on holiday, Etebo will still be in action this weekend, but will hop on a plane to London, England immediately after Saturday’s game and then take another flight to Lagos on Sunday, May 20.
Before flying out to Nigeria, 22-year-old Etebo is set to be involved for Las Palmas when they take on Girona in the Spanish La Liga in their final game of the season on Saturday.
The lad on loan from CD Feirense of Portugal is the only Nigerian player included in Las Palmas’s 18-man squad for the clash at Estadio de Gran Canaria, meaning Emmanuel Emenike will end his stay in the Canary Islands without playing a single game for the club.
Etebo made giants strides during his loan spell with Las Palmas but could not single-handedly prevent the club from being demoted.
Conversely, Iwobi is set to arrive on Monday ahead of Nigeria’s friendly against DR Congo in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, May 28.
The Gunners star has been holidaying with his family following the end of action in the English Premier League last weekend, as he aims to recharge himself ahead of a very busy summer that will see him appear at his very first World Cup.
The 22-year-old attacker scored the lone goal that ensured Nigeria sealed a World Cup ticket with a game to spare against Zambia last year.
Iwobi had a low term with The Gunners, as they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the second season, featuring in 39 games, scoring three times and providing seven assists.
