Etebo scores screamer in Stoke City’s win over Nottingham Forest

Date:

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was on the score sheet for the first time since joining Stoke City in a 2 – 0 win over Nottingham Forest in the English Championship on Saturday.

Stoke City pushed their opponents from the start of the match seeking an early goal but forests goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon was up to the task denying the Potters on several occasions.

The Nigerian international who has become a regular for the club opened scoring for the Potters in the 15th minute of the encounter dribbling his way to take a curler just outside the 18 yard box after receiving a pass from Thomas Ince while DR Congo striker Benik Afobe made it 2 – 0 in the 74th minute with a well taken shot from inside the box.

Stoke City’s hopes of returning to the Premier League has been dashed as they sit 16th on the table on 44 points after 35 games in the Championships recording just 10 wins with 14 draws and 11 losses and are winless in their last six games in the league losing three and drawing three times with two of the losses coming at home before the win on Saturday.

Etebo was taken off in the 66th minute of the game making way for Charlie Adam.
