Arsenal’s rising star, Ethan Nwaneri has etched his name into the Premier League history books by breaking a record previously held by his teammate Bukayo Saka.
The 17-year-old midfielder achieved the feat during the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Leicester City in the latest round of league fixtures.
Nwaneri, who has enjoyed a breakout season under manager Mikel Arteta, has impressed with his performances in his first full senior campaign.
Trusted by Arteta to play a key role in the North London club’s plans, the teenager has already made 24 appearances for Arsenal this season, showcasing his immense talent.
During Arsenal’s win over Leicester, Nwaneri became the youngest player to complete five or more dribbles and register an assist in a single Premier League match at the age of 17 years and 331 days, according to OptaJoe.
This record was previously held by Bukayo Saka, who achieved the feat at 18 years and 164 days against Newcastle United in 2020.
Nwaneri’s remarkable performances have been making headlines beyond the Premier League.
Last month, he became the second-youngest Englishman to score in the UEFA Champions League when he netted the winning goal against Girona in the final matchday of the group stage.
He also became the second-youngest Arsenal player to score in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of club legend Cesc Fàbregas.
Arsenal, currently seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, are in a heated title race as they aim to reclaim domestic glory.
With Ethan Nwaneri proving to be an integral part of the squad, the young midfielder is expected to play a crucial role in Arsenal’s quest for silverware across multiple competitions this season.
