Ex-International Speaks on Continental Woes

Date:

Former Nigerian international, Mutiu Adepoju has stated that there is a management issue in Nigerian football. The former player was speaking on the context of Nigerian teams underperforming at the continental level, with the last Nigerian side to conquer the continent being Enyimba in 2005.

“It’s not too difficult to see what is happening. I mean, the state of football, the football management and the way it is being managed, that’s just the reason why we are probably not having success in the continent”, the former player stated.

He explained that it is not down to a lack of talent, but rather a general management problem, and the current situation of things.

“And I believe that it’s not lack of talent, but I believe it’s just the management and the way we do things and all that”, Adepoju said.
