Ezenwa Admits He Might Quit Katsina United Early

Date:

New signing at Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) modest club, Katsina United, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has admitted he might leave the team before the end of his contract, as he is eager to move abroad.

Although Ezenwa admitted he joined the Northern club in order to get regular playing time heading into the Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles back up goalkeeper could be on his way again mid-2019.

Footballlive.ng gathered that Ezenwa already has some offers on the table from clubs in Europe and Asia, but he is currently weighing his options, as he wants to move on a high.

Having lost his number one spot at Enyimba of Aba to Theophilus Afelokhai, Ezenwa reckoned that staying in The City of Elephants would be detrimental to his AFCON 2019 aspirations, hence his option to quit.

That option, though, is tied round AFCON 2019, where Ezenwa hopes he will be Nigeria’s number one in goal, thereby attracting keen interest and the opportunity for a fatter deal in Europe, even before his contract with Katsina United runs its full course.

The former Heartland of Owerri and FC Ifeanyibubah of Nnewi shot-stopper stressed: “I need to play regularly.

“Although I had a good time at Enyimba but as a player you have your decisions to make and I’ve taken the decision to play for Katsina United

“There is a possibility to play in Europe, its just a discussion that I had with them that they’re interested in having me play for them.

I said yes, I’m going to play for them. A man must have a plan B and I’m looking forward to moving on with my career in Europe.

“I know that if I’m to play in the NPFL in 2019, it has to be for Katsina United. It’s a very important decision in my career.”
