New signing at Katsina United, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has opened up on the factors that made him join the mid-class Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, as he says he has all along been impressed by their youthful squad and ambition to excel.
While also pointing out that The Changi Boys’ technical crew also played a key role in convincing him to move up north, footballlive.ng can report that Ezenwa is also keen on keeping his place in the Super Eagles.
Although Ezenwas insists he is already an integral part of the Eagles, observers believe his second fiddle role wih Enyimba of Aba, where he lost his first choice spot to Theophilus Afelokhai, was demeaning to his national team status.
However, Ezenwa refused to acknowledge his national team ambitions in his decision to shift base to Katsina, as the former Ocean Boys, Dolphins, Heartland, Sunshine Stars and FC Ifeanyiubah star insists his focus is only on his new club.
Ezenwa retorted: “I joined Katsina United because I needed a new challenge in my career. It’s a new page, a new chapter, a new environment.
“I need a team with ambition, a competitive team. Katsina United are a young, promising team, who finished fifth in the NPFL last season.
“They have good players and a sound coach; those were part of my reasons for joining them.”
