Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has described his 30th birthday as a very historic occasion for him, as it came on a day he was away on national team assignment with the Super Eagles.
Unlike Eagles’ stand-in captain, Ahmed Musa, who celebrated his birthday a day after the team beat Libya 4-0 at home in Uyo, Ezenwa had his own special occasion on the same day the Nigerian team lined out for the reverse fixture in Sfax, Tunisia.
However, the former FC Ifeanyiubah of Nnewi shot-stopper said he had no misgivings about seeing his birthday coincide with the Eagles’ away match, as he says everything about the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier made it very historic for him.
Consequently, the home-based Eagles captain said he will remember how he marked his birthday with his national team colleagues in a foreign country, while seeking glory in the race to AFCON 2019.
Ezenwa said: “I thank God for the gift of life and also appreciate God for allowing my birthday to fall on a good day when I am on national duty.”
