Having all but come from the death to eliminate China in Monday’s final group stage game by grabbing a last minute equalizer via wonderkid, Rasheedat Ajibade the Falconet would be looking to go a step further and defeat their Spanish opposition when they face off in Thursday’s quarterfinal clash.
Speaking to www.footballlive.ng, the team’s assistant coach who is confident of progress to the semifinals said, “The team has resumed training both on the field and with strategy sessions. We have also worked on area where we think opponents have tried to capitalize against us.”
Coach Danjuma went further by stating he and his technical crew had worked hard to study their opposition even as he believed they had also done same to his team but was very confident in his charges to come out victorious on Thursday.
Falconet would be looking to draw confidence from defeating their quarterfinal opponent just two years ago but would need to be mindful of complacency as both teams had changed significantly from that time.
One thing the Falconet Coach was not worried about was the determination and desire of his players to qualify for the Semifinals by defeating the Spaniards having watched his players show character to get to the quarterfinals especially when they fell behind to China in the final game of the group stages.
“We have improved by each game at the tournament and7 this would only get better as we go into the game carrying not only the hope of Nigeria but the Continent as a whole.” Concluded the Falconet Assistant Coach
