The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Aisha Falode, on behalf of the NWFL board has congratulated all the four top teams in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) that qualified for the forthcoming NWPL Super Four competition where the true champion of the season will be determined.
Falode told footballlive.ng on Tuesday morning that all the top four teams worked very hard to earn their places in the Super Four, going by the improved standard of the league which was evident from the first blast of the whistle.
“The improved standard of the league reflected on the number of the NWPL players who made the Super Falcons team to the 2018 AWCON in Ghana.
“I want to commend the players and officials of the clubs for conducting themselves well during the season. Not leaving out their dedicated supporters and fans that thronged to the stadium during matches.
“The various media representatives from across the country who gave massive support and overwhelming coverage to the activities of the NWFL, helped tremendously in helping to create better awareness for the league. We wouldn’t have been where we are today if not for the objective reportage in the media cutting across the print, broadcast and social media.”
The NWFL boss urged the clubs whose teams didn’t make it to the Super Four to continue to strive hard to achieve desired goals. “Two of the teams that qualified for the Super Four this year: Sunshine Queens and Bayelsa Queens, were not there last year in Benin City, but they set target for themselves and worked very hard to achieve it.”
She also commended the officiating officials: “Our referees were awesome carrying out their duties on the field of play. We say more grease to their elbow.”
She stated that the board of the NWFL is doing all it can to make this year’s Super Four and other programmes on its calender to be grand.
“The programme of this year’s Super 4 will be made public any moment from now.”
