FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday extended its scintillating run of form to five games unbeaten and five clean sheets as Chibuike Ezeh’s clinical finish in the 56th minute separated the two sides in a pulsating game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna. This clash was a reminiscent of the 2016 Federation Cup Semi Finals clash at the same ground which saw the Anambra Warriors progress to the finals with a 1-0 win against Crown FC.

The technical crew kept faith with the team that defeated Yobe Desert Stars in midweek save for Jimoh Gbadamosi who replaced injured Ikenna Cooper in the setup. It was really an end-to-end stuff and a very interesting football display from both sides in the 90 minutes of action. However, the key moment came in the 56th minute when Chibuike Ezeh beat the offside trap after receiving a trademark ball from Jimoh Gbadamosi and finished clinically in one-on-one situation against Goalkeeper Sunday Okoh.
The win sees the Anambra Warriors go top of the Group B log with 11 points garnered from five games and will now head back to the fortress for the double home header against Abia Warriors and Gombe United in Match day 6 and 7 respectively.
Reacting after to the win, Technical Adviser Mohammed Huseini said the victory today can be attributed to hardwork and commitment on the players part: “I want to thank God for the victory today, this will surely strengthen our resolve to work harder and grind out points especially on the road. The players have shown courage, discipline, hardwork and commitment thus far. This game is over and we have a double header against Abia Warriors and Gombe United who are also doing well, so we have to prepare well for these matches,” He said.
Huseini further stated: There are so many games still to come in the season so we won’t lose sight of the task ahead just because we got a win today, we have to redouble our effort. I want to use this opportunity to call on our supporters to continue to support us as this is a collective responsibility.
