Feels good to be home – Obafemi Martins

Former Nigerian international Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins was one of the dignitaries at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro) in Italy where his former club Inter Milan held Barcelona to a 1 – 1 draw in a UEFA Champions League fixture.

 

 

The Shanghai Shehua striker played for the Nerazzurri between 2001 and 2016 scoring a total of 28 goals in 88 appearances including 10 goals in the Champions League and two in the UEFA Cup now Europa League.

Other former teammates who witnessed the game include former world footballer of the year Lius Figo, Javier Zanetti, Julio Caesar.

Barcelona playing without iconic Leo Messi took the lead in the 83rd minute through Brazilian star Malcom but the lead lasted just four minutes as in Inter captain Mauro Icadi leveled the encounter in the 87th minute.

Obagoal as he is fondly called posted pictures of himself and former teammates at the game on his official Instagram handle with the caption “Feels good to be back home…Forza Inter.”

Martins is yet to play for his club in seven months after an injury in an AFC Champions League game between Shanghai Shenhua and Kashima Antlers of Japan on Tuesday April 3rd 2018.
