The Super Eagles have received another uncanny boost to the aim of beating South Africa on Saturday, as a song in honour of Nigerian music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti is expected to be performed before kick-off.
Information reaching footballlive.ng reveals that the Eagles would be stirred up with memories of the Afro-beat icon and the presence of a contemporary Nigerian music producer, Kiddominant in a pre-match performance at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
The atmosphere inside the arena, which is also expected to be swarmed by thousands of soccer fans from Africa’s most populous country, will surely be set aglow with the Nigerian touch, much to the Eagles relish.
Kiddominant is scheduled to perform alongside South African rapper, AKA (real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes) before the Eagles and Bafana Bafana do battle in the decisive AFCON 2019 qualifier on Saturday.
They will perform their popular single, ‘Fela In Versace,’ before the match, which is billed to begin at 2pm Nigeria time.
The song, which has almost two million views on YouTube, pays tribute to the Afro-beat legend, Fela, who has an idolised image in Nigeria.
However, while the frenetic song is one of many collaborations between Nigerian and South African music stars this year, it will herald another potentially explosive soccer match between both countries at the arena.
