Enugu Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has voiced his frustration over the red card received by midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye during their 1-0 win over Ikorodu City. Ilechukwu criticized Ogunleye’s lack of discipline, stating that the player would face punishment for his unsportsmanlike behavior, which led to his dismissal.
“I’m so sad about it because when you’re not disciplined, you pay a price for it. We’re not going to leave him unpunished,” Ilechukwu said in a post-match interview. He emphasized the importance of adhering to football rules and noted that Ogunleye’s absence would be a setback for the team.
The coach also observed Remo Stars’ head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, smiling from the stands, likely pleased with the incident, as it would relieve some pressure ahead of their weekend clash in Ikenne. “I think Ijaball would be very happy. We’ll see what we can do to fill the gap in Ogunleye’s absence,” Ilechukwu added, hinting at possible replacements for the upcoming game.
