As the U-20 Women’s World Cup approaches, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Super Falcons player Demehin Oluwatosin, among other standout talents from previous tournaments.
The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia will be the first edition to feature 24 teams, reflecting FIFA’s commitment to expanding opportunities for players worldwide.
In a recent post, Infantino highlighted the impressive performances of players like Demehin Oluwatosin, Salma Paralluelo, Maika Hamano, and Linda Caicedo in the previous edition of the tournament.
He expressed excitement about the upcoming competition, saying:
“The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024 starts in Colombia in four days. Having witnessed the brilliance of players such as Salma Paralluelo, Demehin Oluwatosin, Maika Hamano, and Linda Caicedo in the past, I am thrilled to see the next generation of young talents take to FIFA’s global stage.
All four, along with many others, have since made significant strides in their careers and represented their nations at the greatest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup last year. This reaffirms that our youth competitions are a crucial launchpad towards future success.”
The tournament will be held in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
