Super Eagles Head Coach, Finidi George, has congratulated Ademola Lookman on his remarkable performance in the UEFA Europa League final.
Lookman ended Bayer Leverkusen’s 51-game unbeaten streak by scoring a historic hat-trick that secured Atalanta’s 3-0 victory on Wednesday.
“For me as a Nigerian, I am delighted and happy. Our players are performing well in Europe and this is the best time for Nigerians playing in Europe. Ademola is a player we need and love, and I’m glad he had that spectacular performance yesterday,” Finidi said.
Finidi also mentioned sending messages of congratulations to Lookman, as well as his compatriots Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella. He highlighted the importance of their achievements for Nigerian football.
During a media parley in Lagos on Thursday, Finidi George said, “We haven’t had players perform well in Europe for a very long time, and as the head coach of the Super Eagles, it’s wonderful for me. We need these players to come home and perform well for us. We look forward to having him in camp.”
The Super Eagles camp is set to open on June 1 ahead of their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
