Nigeria’s interim coach, Finidi George, has provided insights into his potential starting lineup for Friday’s international friendly against Ghana.
The much-anticipated match between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will take place at Stade de Marrakech, Morocco.
With regular captain Ahmed Musa and deputy captain William Troost-Ekong absent from the squad, Finidi hinted that either Kelechi Iheanacho or Wilfred Ndidi, both of Leicester City, could don the captain’s armband.
Ndidi has previously captained the Super Eagles during their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe.
During a post-match press conference, Finidi emphasized the team’s tactical approach and expressed optimism about securing a victory.
He stated, “Ndidi is there or Kelechi? Definitely, we want to win it.” Additionally, Finidi highlighted the team’s tactical adjustments aimed at enhancing player performance and energy levels.
