El-Kanemi Warriors and Rivers United both earned important away victories on Matchday 3 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Saturday.
At the Lafia City Stadium, Rivers United continued their unbeaten streak under head coach Finidi George, claiming a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars.
Kabir Abdullahi’s 72nd-minute penalty sealed the result, keeping Finidi’s side unbeaten after three games.
However, Finidi wasn’t concerned about the means of the victory.
“Every victory, we will take it. It’s just a game. This is nothing. We have to go back and prepare for the next game.”
”That’s the Philosophy.”
“It’s going to be a difficult game, but I commend the boys for their effort today.”
Meanwhile, at the New Jos Stadium, Nasarawa United’s Nasiru Saliba scored the first hatrick of the 2024/25 season but bottled this advantage and suffered a defeat.
Nasarawa United opened well, with Amas Yusuf scoring twice in the first 20 minutes to give the home team an early lead.
However, the visitors replied quickly, with Nasiru Salihu scoring two goals to tie the game.
Alamin Umar scored just before halftime to give El-Kanemi Warriors a 3-2 advantage. More drama ensued in the second half, as Yusuf scored his third goal for Nasarawa United, tying the game once more.
