Flying Eagles Depart for WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lome

Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U-20 football team and defending champions of the WAFU B U-20 Championship, has departed for Lome, the capital of Togo, on Tuesday morning.

The boys will compete in Group B, where they are set to face Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire.

Their campaign begins on Friday, October 18, with an opening match against Burkina Faso at the Municipal Stadium in Lome. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.

Coached by Aliyu Zubair, the Technical Adviser of El-Kanemi Warriors, the squad left Nigeria around 10:25 a.m. via Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Meanwhile the  traveling contingent includes 20 players, coaching staff, backroom personnel, and officials from the Nigeria Football Federation.

Before departure, the team completed their final training phase at the Remo Stars training complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Midfielders: Raphael Oyebanjo (Shuffle),

Nasiru Salihu (El-Kanemi Warriors), Muhammad Sabiu Ibrahim (Niger Tornadoes), Oliseh Divine (Academy), Israel Ayuma (NK Istra, Croatia), Ibrahim Abdullahi (Bayelsa United), Suleyman Alabi (El-Kanemi Warriors).

Forwards: Alonge Ibrahim (Academy), Kparabo Arieri (Beyond Limits), Clinton Jephta (Enyimba), Charles Agada (QPR, England), Bidemi Amole, Musa Akinfenwa (Real Sapphire).

With high hopes of defending their title, the Flying Eagles will aim to begin their campaign on a winning note and advance to the knockout stages.
