Former Chelsea star Babayaro convinced Antonio Conte will be Sacked

Date:

Chelsea legend, Celestine Babayaro has criticized Manager Antonio Conte, blaming the Italian for the team’s woes this season and believes he could get the sack.

Babayaro, who spent 8 seasons at the Bridge, faulted Conte’s decision to sell his “best players” to rivals.

He also laid into the team for their performance and lack of commitment in the 3-0 drubbing suffer at the hands of Newcastle on the final day of the EPL season.

“Conte came in the first year and won the premier league and everyone was like who is this man he has done absolutely wonderful.

“And then all of a sudden second year everything fell apart, they got beat by Newcastle yesterday; they didn’t turn up and everything’s just fallen to pieces.

“And I thought Conte would have taken a leaf out of Jose’s experience in Chelsea. It doesn’t matter if you’ve won the league before, there’s still tendencies that anything could go wrong.

“If you really really wanted to win the league how come you’d be selling your best players to your rivals.

“You get rid of Matic, you get rid of Costa you can’t get rid of your best players and get mediocre players in, it doesn’t just work.”

The FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup winner said Conte “shot himself on the foot” with some of his decisions and predicted the Italian could be sacked.

“I just think Conte has shot himself on the foot and the way he came up in his press conferences immediately he couldn’t get the players he wanted. I mean you are the manager, you are paid to do a job.

“Yes before you got the job of Chelsea football club you must have done your due diligence. You know Chelsea as a football club they don’t keep Managers more than two or three years, so you should get on with it.

“I mean, You won the premier league in the first instance with the players you took over, so what was the problem in your second year?

“You moaning left, right and center and Chelsea as I know it, if you get in a fight with the hierarchy in Chelsea there’s only going to be one winner and that is Abramovich.”
