Former Falcon Expresses Faith in Falconets

Date:

Former Nigerian female international, Ajobiewe Olajumoke has said that it would not be an easy ride for the under 20 falconets at the upcoming world cup. The young ladies are paired with South Korea, Germany and Venezuela in Group C of the tournament taking place in Colombia.

She highlighted that Germany had defeated Nigerian twice at the finals of this same tournament in previous times, and that the team once faced South Korea as well in the competition.

“It is not going to be an easy task for them, because all the countries that qualify for the competition are having the same aim and objectives of winning the cup. We have two previous champions in that group, South Korea and Germany. And I can still recollect that South Korea was also in our group in Japan 2012, but we defeated them by two goals to nil. And we had met with Germany twice in the final, which we eventually lost to them”, she said.

She also Nigeria’s heritage in the tournament, highlighting that Nigeria have never missed an edition of the tourney since it’s inception. She added that she believes in the players and their abilities, also that the ladies would want to do good to put smiles on Nigerian faces.

“And you know, Nigeria is one of the countries that are, the four countries that had not even missed this competition since inception. So, I believe with the caliber of players, coupled with the experiences and exposure, the falconets will not want to put sorrow, pains and bitterness that Nigerians are going through right now. They know very well that football is the only game that unites us. So, I believe that they will want to put smiles on the faces of the frowned Nigerians to make them happy by winning”, she further stated.

The falconets will begin their conquest for the world cup against South Korea on the 2nd of September at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota.
