Former Salernitana head coach Paulo Manuel Sousa is eager to bring Super Eagles and PAOK Thessaloniki defender William Troost-Ekong to his new club.
The 53-year-old Portuguese manager worked with the Super Eagles captain during their time together at Salernitana, for just four months.
Sousa recently signed a two-year deal with UAE Pro League side Shabab Al-Ahli and is keen on making Ekong one of his new recruits.
According to Greek outlet Gazzetta Greece, Ekong is on the radar of several clubs across Europe and the Middle East following a brilliant AFCON campaign under Jose Peseiro, where he netted three goals and won the Player of the Tournament award.
Dubai-based club Shabab Al-Ahli has also expressed interest in the former Watford defender, reaching out to the Greek champions over a possible transfer since June.
The 30-year-old has admitted he’s considering his options while reiterating his happiness with PAOK after winning the league with them last season.
Coach Sousa is reportedly pushing hard for the deal, and Shabab Al-Ahli is rumored to have submitted an offer worth around one million euros for the former Udinese man.
