Fortuna Dusseldorf of Germany goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has been tipped to line out for the Super Eagles in years to come, as he appears ready to switch allegiance and star for Nigeria, footballlive.ng reports.
This is the prediction of Germany-based Nigerian sportscaster and analyst, Oma Akatugba, who has served a strong verdict that Okoye is ready to stake his international future for his father’s country.
Akatugba, who used to run a television sports programme some years back in Nigeria, took to social media to reveal how Okoye seemingly agreed that he is ready to star for the Eagles.
The well-traveled journalist adds that Okoye is eager to man the sticks for the Eagles because he is a Nigerian through-and-through, which he believes made it easy to convince the lad about making the switch.
Incidentally, Okoye has been in the news about a switch to the Eagles since October, as national team scout, Victor Okechukwu Agali even paid him a visit in Germany, but nothing has been heard about him since.
That, though, may now become a thing of the past, as Akatugba further revealed on social media that the young shot-stopper is ready to open direct lines of communication with Nigerian soccer fans and admirers.
Akatugba stated: “Meet soon to be Nigeria’s Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper. 19- year old Maduka Okoye.
“@OkoyeMaduka, he plays for Fortuna Dusseldorf @f95 of Germany. He is a Nigerian through and through.”
He also quoted Okoye saying: “No amount of money will make me play for Germany. It is Nigeria or nothing.”
