Fred Friday’s Goal Sinks Ogbeche’s Club

Sparta Rotterdam of Holland striker, Fred Friday scored his first goal for his new side, in their 1-0 defeat of Bartholomew Ogbeche’s Willem II in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday afternoon.

The 22-year old striker who moved to Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel during the January window got off the mark on his fourth appearance for the club, turning home after 23 minutes of action as the hosts took the much needed lead.

It ultimately stayed that way to give the bottom-placed Sparta just their third league win of the season and moving them to within three points to safety in the 18-team division, with Willem II sitting four places above in 14th.

While Friday was in action for 76 minutes against the Tricolores, Ogbeche who scored to help his side into the KNVB Cup semi-finals last time out came on for the visitors in the 46th minute but could only pick up a stoppage time booking for his troubles.

Ogbeche and Willem II would hope to bounce back from the defeat when they host VVV Venlo on Wednesday while Friday’s Sparta Rotterdam would continue their fight for survival with a trip to Utrecht.
