El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri coach, Mohammed Babaganaru is basking in the euphoria of his side’s opening day away win against Akwa United of Uyo in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Ganaru reckoned that, despite their inability to get new stars in the transfer market, the result has given his players adequate motivation to make the best of the season and send a strong message to other teams.
Footballlive.ng reports that the former Kano Pillars and Nasarawa United gaffer was happy that his tactics and counter attacking approach to the match worked well against The Promise Keepers.
Ganaru further acknowledged that his players followed his instructions to the letter, such that it was a substitute who scored the winning goal in the encounter at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
It was a packed gathering of home fans, who stormed the arena after it was declared free entry by the government of Akwa Ibom State, but they all left disappointed, following the lone goal by Ba’akaka Azikoro.
Afterwards, Ganaru also spoke about his long-term plans for the North East club, which he says he aims to transform into a title contender all through this season.
The Borno State-born tactician stressed: “El Kanemi Warriors are one of the top-rated teams in the league and I am delighted to work with them.
“I also want to appreciate and thank the club chairman for giving me the opportunity to work with him.
“My objective is to work hard and ensure that El Kanemi Warriors are a delight to watch and achieve positive results too.
“I want to assure them that they are going to see a renewed El Kanemi Warriors that won’t struggle like they did last season.”
