Former Super Eagles defender, Godwin Okpara has declared that the current team need to concentrate more during the thick of action, to avoid conceding dangerous goals the way they did against Libya.
While reflecting on how the Libyans pulled level from 2-0 down against the Eagles on Tuesday, Okpara, who starred for PSG of France at the height of his career, said it was a scary period for Nigerian fans.
Okpara said Thursday morning during a radio programme monitored by footballlive.ng that he feared for the worst when the Libyans equalized in Sfax, Tunisia, during the reverse fixture of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but is happy that the Nigerian team eventually won 3-2.
“It was a scary match for me and all other Nigerian fans,” said the Golden Eaglets’ product of Scotland 1989 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
“It’s true that such can happen to even some big teams. Yes, I remember that even Spain conceded two goals after leading in a match. But that is not to say we should allow it happen to us.
“What I want is that our players should not lose concentration the way they did on Tuesday. They should stayed focused till the final whistle.”
