The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria claimed their first victory at the WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ghana by defeating the Niger Republic 1-0 at the University Stadium in Accra.
The winning goal came from Rapha Adams in the 31st minute.
Manu Garba’s team was reduced to 10 men after Chibuike Okorie was sent off in the 63rd minute but still held on to their lead.
With this win, the Golden Eaglets moved to second place in Group B with four points from two games.
Burkina Faso tops the group, also with four points, but with a better goal difference after defeating Togo earlier in the day. Niger Republic is third with three points.
The Golden Eaglets will face already-eliminated Togo in their final group game on Wednesday, needing only a draw to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
