As is customary with any start to a new season, players across the world of football have got up to sing their initiation songs and for new AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain, that song was ‘Despacito’.
The Milan club signed the Argentine striker on loan this summer from Serie A champions Juventus in a move that saw defender Leonardo Bonucci move the other way.
And ahead of making his club debut on Saturday against Napoli, another of his former clubs, Higuain got up on a chair to hit the notes of his chosen song in front of team-mates.
The performance, which was captured on midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko’s Instagram story, saw the showman inside Higuain emerge as his team-mates clapped and cheered. Gonzalo Higuain did his own rendition of ‘Despacito’ for his initiation as an AC Milan player.
Bakayoko is another summer arrival having swapped Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea for Gennaro Gatuso’s Milan.

Using a water bottle as his microphone, it proved yet another light-hearted ice-breaker with his new team-mates but he will hope to further endear himself to fans with a goal on his debut.
It quickly became clear the striker was far from comfortable and is unlikely to trade in his current job for a singing career.
Higuain is not the only one heading into the weekend’s match with experiences at both clubs as Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti comes up against Milan, where he enjoyed so much success earlier in his career.
It will be Milan’s first match of the new season having seen their opening tie against Genoa after a bridge in Genoa collapsed.
