Kenyan Premier League champions, Gor Mahia, have set up camp in Ghana ahead of their CAF Champions League first round, second leg clash with Lobi Stars of Nigeria.
The players and officials of the club arrived at the base on Wednesday from Nairobi.
The developments were confirmed by the club’s treasurer Sally Bolo.
“l spoke to the Team Manager Jolawi Obondo who confirmed the team’s arrival in Accra where they will camp and train for two days before heading to Abuja then to Enugu on Friday,” the treasurer told Gor Mahia website.
She added: “Our plan was to fly to Abuja then to Enugu straight but we had to change because Lobi Stars didn’t manage to get us today’s flight…so, we camp and train at neutral ground before the match and Accra was more appropriate.
“Once the team lands in Abuja on Friday, our host (Lobi Stars) will provide the flight to Enugu as per CAF regulations – that if the distance of playing venue is more than 200km outside the capital city, the host should cater for the traveling cost.”
Gor Mahia held their first training session on Thursday morning, according to sources.
They defeated the Pride of Benue 3-1 at the MISC Kasarani on Sunday 16th December.
