Lobi Stars of Makurdi’s opponents in this weekend’s second leg of their CAF Champions League first round fixture, Gor Mahia of Kenya are set to storm Nigeria with a high-powered 30-person delegation led by their country’s football federation vice-president, John Pesa.
However, footballlive.ng learnt that the contingent of 18 players, five technical crew members, three officials and four journalists will be not have their star, Ernest Wendo, who is ruled out with accumulated cards.
Gor Mahia’s plans were also marred by a delayed release of 30 return tickets from the government as requested by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to facilitate their trip to Nigeria.
FKF chief executive, Robert Muthomi wrote a formal letter of request to Kenya’s principal secretary of sports, Kirimi Kaberia for the assistance of return tickets.
Mthuomi explained that the purpose of the letter was to request for the provision of 30 return tickets to enable them travel and honor the duty of representing the country in an important football match.
He added: “We have booked space for a contingent of 30 people in Rwandan Air and that is the only available flight between Wednesday and Saturday.
“If that flight takes off without Gor Mahia, then we are simply out.”
