The town of Macon toasted local hero Antoine Griezmann’s World Cup victory on Friday, with the 27-year-old bringing the famous golden trophy with him and raising it on the balcony of the town hall, with his daughter Mia in his other arm.
He was greeted by more than 2,000 Maconnais. The player of the Team of France was welcomed as a true hero!
For this triumphant return, the footballer was accompanied by his two most faithful champions : his wife Erika Choperena, who despite his Spanish origins, has supported her husband throughout the competition, and their daughter, Mia.
Hundreds gathered to welcome the France forward, who scored four goals in Russia, and there was a banner of thanks dedicated to him as well.
Earlier in the day, a new sports centre had been opened in Macon and named after the footballer.
