Former Nigeria international Prince Ikpe Ekong has attributed Chrisantus Uche’s criticisms of officiating in Spain’s La Liga to a lack of sufficient orientation.
Uche, playing for Getafe, recently voiced his dissatisfaction with the refereeing after just seven league games.
In an interview with ESPN, Uche expressed his frustration regarding what he perceives as unfair treatment on the pitch.
“The first two or three La Liga games, I have seen with my own eyes that the referees are very bad.
They hit me, and the referee simply told me to get up,” he said.
Ekong urged the 21-year-old player to be more tactful in his approach to avoid unnecessary attention.
“Orientation is very important. He has forgotten that referees are under FIFA, and any referee who makes mistakes can be controlled and penalized,” he stated.
“Does he think Getafe is an Enugu or Anambra team to compare the situation in Spain? He needs good advice. As a professional, he must learn how to communicate effectively.”
